EVO 2010 Honorable Mention

J.R. Rodriguez (aka PIKACHUAKUMA)

My personal MVP of EVO 2010 is J.R. Rodriguez. He is known for being a Raging Demon specialist, even since the Third Strike days. J.R. had an amazing run this year and put both Tokido (a top Japanese Akuma player) and Flash Metorid into losers. Unsurprisingly, it took two Top 8 players to eliminate him; J.R. lost only to Mike Ross and GamerBee.

8:25 in this video is the most heartbreaking moment of the tournament and completely changed the results of the Top 8.

The EVO Experience

For those who couldn't make it, this video by Richard Li captures some of the magic of being in the crowd at EVO 2010.

New Characters at EVO

By request, I'll showcase new-to-Super characters played at EVO 2010 in this post.

Ed Ma as Juri vs Marn as Dudley

Neo as Juri

GamerBee as Adon

RB as Guy

BKB as Hakan

Buktooth, formerly a Fuerte player, played Ibuki. I'll post video as soon as I find any.

Ono's Next Game

SF4 Producer Yoshinori Ono continues teasing his next game. At EVO, he made a joke about working on Dark Void 2. Later, he said he'd received a call from his boss, Keiji Inafune, that he would have to discontinue work on that to work on a fighting game instead. He urged fans to be patient until an announcement at Comic-Con in two weeks.

He offered a hint via a picture he posted to Twitter, seen here. Apparently, that's a picture of Ryu to the left; however, the inkblot to the right is still a mystery. Judging by how friendly Ono was with Tekken Producer Harada-san at EVO, could we see a Namco vs Capcom?
